INSURANCES CLAIMS EXPERIENCES WITH NTUC INCOME IN SINGAPORE

Policyholder has medishield insurance coverage with NTUC Income under Incomeshield Plan B + rider.

List of key events related to the Hospitalisation Claim from NTUC Income:

1) 30 Aug 2007: Policyholder accidentally swallowed the fishbone and got stucked in her throat. She was admitted to Changi General Hospital for the removal of fishbone in her throat.

2) 31 Aug 2007: Discharged from hospital.

3) 7 Sept 2007: Changi General Hospital sent Tax Invoice amounting to $766.34. Full settlement for the Claim on the hospitalisation bill by NTUC Income. Policyholder do not need to cough out any money to pay for her hospitalisation.

DEATH INSURANCE CLAIM - DEPENDENTS' PROTECTION SCHEME VIA NTUC INCOME ON OCT 2007. CHEQUE RECEIVED WITHIN 4 WORKING DAYS

The deceased, Mr Chew passed away due to accidental death while working on site and the demolished building at Robinson Road collapsed on him on 12 Oct 2007.

Here's the key events taking place as follows:
1) 12 Oct 2007: Deceased passed away due to accidental death.
2) 15 Oct 2007: My ex-colleague approached me and asked me if i am able to check if her brother-in-law has any insurances with NTUC Income. After checking with my supervisor, the deceased did not have any life insurances with NTUC Income.
3) Thereafter, I would think that the deceased may have the Dependents' Protection Scheme from CPF Board which was outsourced to GE or NTUC INCOME. I approached the officer handling DPS to assist. True enough, he has a DPS plan with NTUC Income. The insurance claim amount settled was the Sum Assured $46,000 + Bonus.
4) 17 Oct 2007: Informed the claimant to submit the relevant documents to me. I follow-up with the claimant on the documents for 2 times.
5) 24 Oct 2007: Finally, the claimant submitted the claims documents to me at 8am after my 2 follow-ups. By 11.15am, the Insurance Claim officer informed me that the insurance claim was successful.
6) 29 Oct 2007: Cheque ready for collection.

It was a very sad thing that a death insurance claim was submitted. However, I was glad that i could get the cheque within 4 days for the claimant. Isn't this what insurances are meant to be as a form of life and health risk management, just in case on raining days?

I hope everyone will act now to take charge of their own life risk management. Start your financial planning now and you are advised to put up a Will or nomination so that it will ease the process of filing the claim.

TRAVEL INSURANCE CLAIMS DEC 2007. CHEQUE RECEIVED WITHIN 4 WORKING DAYS VIA POST

I bought a Travel Insurance from NTUC Income for my mum whom was away for holidays in Malaysia from 14 to 22 Dec 2007. She went to see the doctor at First World Clinic, Genting Highland on 20 Dec 2007 for her severe flu and paid RM120. Thereafter, she had a follow-up medical consultation in Singapore on 23 Dec 2007 and paid SGD66.

The claims were submitted on 24 Dec 2007 and the policyholder received the medical reimbursement via cheque on 29 Dec 2007. This is really wonderful.

Sometimes, i wonder why is it that everyone is telling me that it is so difficult to make a claim? Was it because you did not buy the right insurance plan or you do not know the know-how approach of filing a claim?

CRITICAL ILLNESS CLAIMS EXPERIENCE FROM NTUC INCOME ON AUG 2007 - BREAST CANCER. CHEQUE RECEIVED WITHIN 4 WORKING DAYS

This year May 2007, my auntie was diagnosed with breast cancer. I did not know untill the day (17 July 2007) i met her at KK Hospital, Singapore when she was having her cancer treatment while i was on duty at the KK's NTUC Income Insurance branch office.

My auntie was very upset and told me that she was unable to claim her policies. I told her to bring her policies for me to review so that i could assist in anyway that i can. Since then, i worked very closely with my cousin and auntie and accompanied her to the hospital for her cancer treatment or follow-up medical checkup. This helps to understand from the doctor regarding her cancer condition so as to assist her in claiming her policies which she has bought 10 years ago from other agent. Below are the 2 successful claims that the policyholder has received from NTUC Income:

a) Breast Cancer Insurance Claim on Aug 2007 - Living Policy from NTUC Income. Submitted Claims documents on 7 Aug 2007 and policyholder received the cheque on 13 Aug 2007. Insurance Claims payout within 4 working days.

b) Family Plus Policy with Special Terms from NTUC INCOME: exclusion on breast condition. This hospitalisation claim was not eligible as special terms are imposed for breast conditions. However, NTUC INCOME is compassionate to give a one time 20% ex-gratia payment as the policyholder has been a loyalty customer.

I am glad that NTUC INCOME insurance claims payouts are within 4 days upon submission of the supporting documents. This definitely helps to ease some of the financial burden of the heavy medical treatment cost.
